Health benefits of oats are known too well, and idli is an easy to make light breakfast, a staple for South Indians. Combining the two is therefore the healthiest option.
Ingredients:
-Oats - 2 cups -Yogurd (sour) - 1/2 cup -Mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon -Black gram (urad dal) - 1 tablespoon -Channa dal - 1/2 tablespoon -Oil - 1/2 tablespoon -Green chilies (finely chopped) -2 teaspoon -Carrots (grated) - 1 cup -Coriander (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoon -Turmeric powder - 1/2 tablespoon -Salt to taste
Directions:
1. Dry roast the oats on a flat pan, and then in a mixer grind it into a powder. 2. In another pan add oil, mustard seeds, channa and urad dal and cook until it turns golden yellow. 3. Add chilies, carrots and coriander to this. Also add turmeric powder and let it on the flame for a minute. 4. Pour this seasoning over the powdered oats. Add to the mixture yogurt to form the batter for your idlis 5. Take some oil and grease the idli maker and then pour the batter into it. Steam idlis for around 15 minutes. 6. Grease the idli steamer plates with oil and pour the batter into each area of the steamer. 7. Steam the idlis for 15 minutes.
