Recipe of Sabudana Khichdi

Ingredients

  • Sabudana/Sago/Tapioca – 1/2 cup [ after soaking it becomes 1.5 cups of sago]
  • Potato – 1 medium
  • Roasted Peanut – 1/4 cup
  • Green Chillies – 2
  • Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
  • Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
  • Cilantro – few sprig
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Rock Salt – to taste

Directions

  • Soak sago in just enough water for 4 hours or till it becomes fluffy. To prevent it from going soggy make sure the water is just above the sago level. Drain water and keep aside.
  • Roast Peanuts, de-skin and blend it till it is of a texture of coarse powder.
  • Peel potato, dice it and chop green chillies.
  • Heat oil in a wok or pan and fry cumin seeds till it cracks.  Add curry leaves, green chillies and saute for half a minute.
  • Add potato, cover and cook until potato gets tender.
  • Add the drained sago, peanut powder and mix well
  • Cook with lid on for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
  • Add salt, cilantro, lemon juice for flavoring, toss well and cook for a more minute.
